Maslow’s Human Needs - Exercise #2

Human Needs Activity 2: Exercise #2

Working in groups, discuss and answer the following questions:

   1.     Does every human being have the right to reach the top of the Maslow pyramid?

Yes, sure they do have this right because the first level is considered as basics of human needs that are vital for survival. Maslow has also pointed out that those needs shape out the behaviour of humans. Also, he emphasized the importance of the 5th level of needs which is self actualization that is the development of a person to reach out his potentials. From another perspective, those needs are of the human rights which should be available for each person as they're mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
   2.     Does every human being have the capability of reaching that level?
Yes, as long as the basic needs are met, a person is fully alive and finds a meaning in life that encourages him to give to the society.

   3.     What are the opportunities are needed to get to the higher level?
Support from other people in the society like friends and family, how encouraging the environment is to develop your self more and gifts would help too making a person happy which would let him give more and therefore move on to higher levels.

   4.     What are the obstacles could stand in the way of reaching these levels?
Being scared of taking any step or unsure of it, not having the confidence in his self and abilities, not feeling safe or not having enough security and safety that would allow him to step forward and not being motivated or supported by others.

   5.     What could you do to help others to reach the higher levels?
By setting your own goals, putting a plan to follow to develop so people that consider you as a role model would do the same. Also, working on creative ideas that would benefit you and others and would help them to develop and supporting and motivating others to acheive more in their lives.
